Self Love - The Best Kind Of Love
Self-love is the belief you hold that you are a valuable and worthy person. In this modern generation, most people have forgotten what "Self-Love" means because we all are so busy in pleasing and loving others and it is in that attempt of pleasing others that we tend to lose ourselves and tend to forget the love, attention, care and warmth we need ourself. Do you agree? Now it is possible that many people may confuse themselves by thinking of self-love as being selfish but no that's not the case.
Self-hate is terribly common. Self-hate is much more common than the act of hating someone else. There can be several reasons for self-hatred. The most common can be that the person has been body shamed. Most people hate themselves because they are fat and that they have been neglected or taunted by everyone because they're fat. That's kind of mean. Isn't it? The best way to deal with body shaming is to not deal with it at all. Just ignore peoples comments and judgements on how fat you are. Don't let it affect you. Don't let your own body be the barrier between self-love and self-hate.
Another reason can be that people are stuck in their past. It is hard for some people to move on from the bad things they've done in their past. They start blaming themselves for every bad thing they've ever done and then what? The guilt builds up so much that people start thinking that they're no good for anyone and start hating themselves. In this case help from others matters a lot. Seen the movie Kung Fu Panda? There was a dialogue that Master Shifu said that hit me hard and I hope it helps everyone as well. It goes as "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift that is why its called the present". That's right. Embrace your present and focus on the future. There are just so many reasons that a person can hate themselves but enough with that.
Now, there are many ways to deal with self-hatred and turn that hatred into love. Loving yourself doesn't mean you think you're the smartest, most talented, and most beautiful person in the world. It means thinking of yourself first, thinking of your own well-being first. When you practice self-love, you become more confident and accepting of yourself. When you achieve that feeling you are able to go into relationships with a strong sense of self. The way you treat yourself sets the standards for others, so approaching a relationship with a strong sense of self is the best way to go.
Be more open-minded. Do not let petty things affect you or your thoughts. Do not get influenced by anyone. Surround yourself with self-loving people. Surround yourself with positive people. Do things that make you feel good. Celebrate and reward yourself for even the smallest of things and achievements. Have a happy and a positive mindset towards life and things will start to fall in place for you.
